Navegaon National Park In Maharashtra, India

Navegaon National Park, located in the Gondia district of Maharashtra, is a picturesque wildlife sanctuary covering an area of 133.88 square kilometers. Established in 1975, it is part of the Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve, making it an important conservation area for Royal Bengal Tigers and other wildlife. The park is characterized by its dense forests, rolling hills, and serene water bodies, with the Navegaon Lake being its most striking feature.

This lake, created over 300 years ago, serves as a crucial water source for wildlife and attracts a variety of migratory birds, making the park a paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Navegaon National Park is home to leopards, sloth bears, wild boars, Indian gaur (bison), sambar deer, barking deer, nilgai, and four-horned antelopes (chousingha).

The park is especially famous for its rich birdlife, with over 200 species of birds, including peacocks, grey-headed fish eagles, storks, egrets, and the Indian grey hornbill. The watchtowers around Navegaon Lake provide excellent opportunities to spot wildlife and birds in their natural habitat.

The Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, located within the park, further enhances its reputation as a birdwatching hotspot. Apart from wildlife, the park has cultural and historical significance, with ancient temples and tribal settlements in the region. Visitors can explore the park through jeep safaris, boat rides, and nature trails, offering a mix of adventure and relaxation. Best Time To Visit
