History and Conservation The park was declared a national park in 1984, following a strong environmental movement against a proposed hydroelectric project that threatened its fragile ecosystem. The movement, led by conservationists and local activists, played a significant role in protecting Silent Valley’s untouched forests. The Sairandhri Watchtower provides a breathtaking panoramic view of the park’s lush green landscapes.
